Invisalign for Adults
What Is It? An Overview
Invisalign is a clear aligner system that gradually moves teeth into proper alignment using a series of custom-made plastic trays. The aligners are nearly invisible when worn and are designed to fit comfortably over the teeth. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign does not use brackets or wires. Instead, patients switch to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks as the teeth slowly shift into position. Composite buttons often called Invisalign attachments, are small tooth colored shapes bonded directly onto certain teeth during treatment. These attachments are carefully shaped and positioned to help the aligners grip the teeth more effectively and create precise tooth movements.
Am I a Good Candidate?
Adults may be good candidates if they have mild to moderate alignment problems, want a discreet orthodontic option, are committed to wearing aligners consistently, maintaining good oral hygiene, and have healthy teeth and gums. Is It Worth the Cost?
For many adults, Invisalign is a good investment because it improves both smile appearance and oral health. Straighter teeth can be easier to clean and may reduce excessive wear caused by uneven bite. Adults often appreciate being able to improve their smile without the noticeable appearance of traditional braces.
How Much Does It Cost?
The cost of Invisalign treatment often start from $3,000. Cost depends on the length of treatment, complexity, geographic location, and provider experience. Some dental insurance plans may partially cover the cost of treatment.
Why Is It Expensive?
Invisalign trays are individually designed for each patient unlike with traditional braces that use standard brackets and wires. Digital scans and computer software are used to map tooth movement. Each aligner is custom fabricated to fit your teeth precisely and gradually move them into better alignment. You are paying for professional expertise and the advanced technology. Some Invisalign cases are more complex causing longer treatment time, more aligners, additional refinements, and more office visits.
